OK, I have had 13 days off of work and only took 1 vacation day; the rest were paid holidays or weekends.  Not bad, huh?  I had a great time and got plenty of sleep.  I had a stretch of a week away from home, spending 3 nights in Louisville with family, then drove drown to Atlanta to spend 3 nights my sister and her family, then back to Louisville for one night then home.  My home time then was awesome too with a great New Year’s Eve and weekend.  Am I ready to come back?  YES!  However, this week will be VERY hectic.  Rachel and I have eight, count ‘em eight sections of Tech Comm classes tomorrow.  That means that today we have to discuss exactly how we want to approach it because there is no way we are tag-teaming each class this time; we’ll need to devide them up.  I also have a Freshman Comp class to do (maybe two), I have that ASEE paper to submit, I would like to work on those AtoZ journal updates some more, I’ll have to work with my student worker on the yearbook scanning, and there are bills to be paid.  Since we’ll have Tech Comm classes this week, we should have PLENTY of reference questions to keep us busy this week for sure.  Well, off to work.

This Week’s Agenda 10-5-2009

October 5, 2009

Wow, I am finally getting some breathing space.  I still have much to do this week before I can start working on long term projects again, but at least I won’t be under the gun anymore.  Of course, things could always change.

  • Staff meeting today at 4 PM
  • College & Life Skills class Wednesday – Meet with Registrars Office
  • Finish ASEE- ELD Punch list
  • Start working on records to be updated in EBSCO AtoZ
  • Conduct presentations to two College & Life Skills sections on Friday (Set up on Thursday)

This Week’s Agenda

September 28, 2009

This week’s schedule does not look quite as daunting as last weeks, but could become so if we are flooded with reference requests, a plausible possibility given we spoke to six Technical Communication classes on Friday.

  • Create LibGuide for Technical Communications Class
  • Plan for Wednesday’s College and Life Skills class.  This week’s small group discussion is on professional etiquette.  Class will be a social hour where students will have most of that hour to mingle and network with each other as if it were a professional social gathering like a conference.  There will be food, so I have to plan for that.
  • Plan with our library director the library’s role on “Library and Learning Center Day” for all of the College and Life Skills classes.  We have to decide how we are going to spend our half hour with each class will show up to the library on their given day.  This will take place over the course of a week.  We plan to do it differently this year, but have not decided just how we are goping to do that yet, so we’ll need to address that.
  • Try to finish the ASEE ELD punch list
  • Conduct library instruction classes to two Freshman Comp classes on Thursday.
  • Work with student workers on scanning more yearbooks.
  • Reference desk Wednesday night and home virtual reference on Thursday night.
  • Try to start updating AtoZ records from Amy’s  list.
  • Fill in the blank______________________
