I went record hunting this weekend and it was fairly successful.  I got 9 albums with one BINGO!  A “Bingo” is when I find one I was looking for specifically and I say “BINGO!”  Seriously, I always do.  The Bingo was J. Geils  Band – “Nightmares…and Other Tales from the Vinyl” 1974.  There are two songs I know and like but I am not sure about the rest.  But it does fill out my collection through 1977, first 9 albums.  I am having a heck of a time finding early Bob Seger titles (up through Beautiful Loser).  I have 3 of those 8, “Mongrel”, “Smokin’ Ops” and “Seven”.

The other albums I picked this past weekend include:

  • Pink Floyd -”Meddle” 1971 (another BINGO, but its pretty scratchy so I still might pick a better copy up later if its not too expensive.);
  • Deep Purple – “Fireball” 1971;
  • Rainbow – “Rising” 1976;
  • Styx – “Cornerstone” 1979;
  • The Moody Blues – “Long Distance Voyager” 1981;
  • Rush – “Signals” 1982;
  • Rush – Power Windows (Korean Release) 1985;

Record Buying Weekend Ahead

I’m going to Louisville this weekend to visit family…and that means it’s time to buy some records. I collect LPs and the pickings are very slim here in Terre Haute.  But when I go to Louisville, the sky’s the limit. It’s not a matter finding great stuff to buy, it’s a matter what I will choose to buy and will I be able to keep myself from spending too much money. I am hoping to fill in my Rush collection a little more. I currently have everything through Exit…Stage Left, plus Grace Under Pressure. I am looking for some more. I am also looking for any of the first three from Yes and any early Bob Seger minus Mongrel and Smokin’ OPs which I already have. You can view my entire album database at http://www.rose-hulman.edu/~bernier/albums/
